University of Southampton - Xiamen University Joint Summer School on Electrochemistry (UoS – XMU Summer School) will be held in Xiamen University from August 27 until Septem-ber 3， 2009. The main content of the school is Instrumental Methods in Electrochemistry.

The joint University of Southampton – Xiamen University Electrochemistry Summer School is developed from the very successful Southampton Electrochemistry Summer School, which was founded in 1969 and has been run almost every year since in Southampton and in several other places around the world. As the result of the collaboration between University of Southampton (UoS), Xiamen University (XMU) and Wuhan University (WU), we are able to offer an exciting programme of lectures and practical sessions taught by experienced teachers from Southampton, Xiamen and Wuhan. The content of the summer school will reflect the research interests of these three schools.

The Electrochemistry research teams in Southampton, Xiamen and Wuhan represent the top electrochemistry research teams in both countries. The students in the summer school will have the opportunities to learn electrochemistry method and instrument from these world-renowned specialists.

students (master students, PhD students, postdoctoral research fellows, and newly appointed University lecturers) from all over the world are welcome to come to Xiamen to study modern electrochemistry, expand their knowledge and make international friends.

The summer school will cover part of the student’s expenses for studying and living in Xiamen. Sponsorship from the Research Councils UK, the Ministry of Education of China, the Natural Science Foundation of China, Xiamen University, and the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces (PCOSS) is gratefully acknowledged.

　　由教育部、国家自然科学基金委、厦门大学、英国研究理事会和固体表面物理化学国家重点实验室共同资助的英国南安普顿大学和中国厦门大学联合电化学暑期学校将于2009年8月27日到9月10日在厦门大学举办 (其中8月27日到9月3日是有国际老师和学生参与的部分)。暑期学校的主要内容是电化学研究方法和仪器。

　　本次暑期学校是在已取得成功的、有着40年历史的南安普顿大学电化学暑期学校的基础上发展起来的。它同时也是南安普顿大学、厦门大学和武汉大学合作交流的发展。南安普顿大学、厦门大学和武汉大学的电化学研究分别代表了两国的最高水平。暑期学校的老师都是来自这三所学校的教学和科研名师。研习班的学员将有机会向世界顶级电化学专家学习先进的电化学知识。

　　暑期学校的学员来自世界各地。一个多星期的共同学习和生活，将有助于学员间开展科研、语言及文化等多方面的深入交流和建立友谊关系。

注意事项:

  • 招收对象：重点招收二年级以上的硕士生、博士生和少部分的青年教师。
  • 招收规模：本次暑期学校将选拔正式学员约70名，其中10名英国学员，10名其他国际学员和约50名
    　　　　　中国学员。
  • 学员选拔及待遇：中国学员的选拔将采取自由报名，并结合导师推荐的形式。暑期学校将为正式学员
    　　　　　提供免费带空调住宿及一定的伙食补贴。
  • 报名时间：即日起正式开始接受报名，报名截止日期为2009年6月20日。

  • 结题证书：暑期学校学习结束，考试合格者颁发由教育部学位管理与研究生教育司统一印制的全国研

  • 其他待遇：
    • 我们将为所有正式学员提供免费教材、讲义等学习资料，并承担实验过程中的药品费、样品测试费、仪器使用及其他所有实验费用。
    • 正式学员可领取临时校园卡和临时借书证，临时校园卡充值后可在校内食堂、商场消费，凭临时借书证，可免费使用图书馆自习讨论室和免费使用网络查询和数据下载。
    • 暑期学校结束时，将评选优秀学员一等奖1名，二等奖2名，三等奖3名，并给予一定金额的奖金鼓励。
