This is an announcement for the International Symposium-3rd Iwasawa Conference on Catalysis and Surface Sciences for Efficient Utilization of Carbon Resources and Related Topics, which will be held from December 2nd to 5th, 2011, in the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces (PCOSS), Xiamen University, China.
The symposium will include the scientific presentations, discussion and local tours. The program will reflect the important role of catalysis, surface sciences and related topics in defining the chemistry required for sustainable growth. All contributions are in English.
The State Key Laboratory of PCOSS would be responsible for local transportation and tours in Xiamen. All lunches and dinners will be covered during the symposium.

Youth session
About 5 young scientists and students who were born on January 1st, 1976 or later can partially be supported to attend the symposium, granting each of them with an amount of RMB6,000. They are requested to give oral presentations. Awardees will be selected by PCOSS and Prof. Iwasawa.

Accommodation
International Academic Exchange Center of Xiamen University is located at the center of the main campus. It consists of three hotels (Yifu Building, Jianwen Building, and Keli Building), restaurants, bar, and conference facilities. Different from campus hotels in the western countries, the service in Yifu and Jianwen buildings is equivalent to a 4-star hotel, although they are not ranked. You can enjoy the nice view and peace of the campus while staying in these hotels.
International 5 star harborview hotel withing 10-min driving distance to the campus can also be available when registration.

About Xiamen
